Materials
The system provides the possibilty to create materials either directly from the product record or from the record of an already existing technical material. Of course new material records can be created from the masterdata material overview aswell. They contain the properties of the spot's business logic, for example the time range in which the material is valid for booking.
General data
- ReferenceNumber - a reference number for the material needs to be inserted here by the user.
- Identifier - name of the material
- Reference - selection of the technical material that will be connected to the (bookable) material. The technical material provides technical information like material type and quality for the (bookable) material.
- External number - optional field for an external material number
- Motif prefix - the material prefix is delivered by the connected technical material. The prefix value resp. values are determine in the client's setup-XML and therefore inserted automatically in the material records. Still they can be modified manually by the user.
- Lock - if the lock-flag is set, the material isn't bookable anymore and won't be displayed in the material selection in the booking tools.
- Available - depending on the status of the allocated technical material, the (bookable) material will also be marked as (not) available.
- Unit (booking relevant) - selection of the material's unit, e.g. seconds or frames.
- Setting (booking relevant) - length of the material that is relevant for booking. This means the total length of the spot.
- Material end title (booking relevant) - if there are closing credits included in the total spot length, they are selected here
- Unit (advertising relevant) - selection of the unit
- Setting (advertising relevant) - actual length of the spot that is chargeable (closing credits are free of charge)
- Products (advertising relevant) - if the material shall be bookable in the booking tools, it must be allocated to a product. Materials cannot be booked independent from products.
- Product text (advertising relevant) - optional textfield for additional product information

- Client - the advertiser of the allocated product. The field will be filled automatically once the product was allocated.
- Display colour - in detailed planning the material title will be displayed in the selected colour. If a break is opened in a pop up, the material will be highlighted in the selected colour.
- Reminder - the flag of the checkbox only works if a parent material is assigned. In this case the material will be booked automatically along with its parent material as tandem spot.
- Deletable - not in use
- Parent-material - head of the tandem spot. The parent material can only be booked on a prior position than the reminder.
- Co-Spot material - if the checkbox is marked, it is allowed to use the material for products of different customers. This way two spots which are booked with different products but the same material can be consolidated as co-spots.
- URL in material - this field contains the URL of the technical material if available

Info
The Info-tab contains additional information about the material like the date of its first run.
Bookings
The material master data provide an annual overview of the booking values on the material within the validity period. The time periods (framed red on the screenshot) define the time slots relevant for consumer research. Bookings within the particular time slots are evalutated for statistical purposes by the GfK (Gesellschaft für Konsumforschung), e.g. for audience rating. How and if the days of broadcast are divided into individual dayparts depends on the customers. The time slots that divide the days of broadcast are determined by the GfK.
The buttons beneath the table are explained below (from left to right):
- MG1: media gross - shows the gross value of the bookings e.g. within the time slots
- MG2: list prices (depending on price model) - prices for basic lengths can be stored in the system, spots of 30 seconds length for instance cost 100€ in tariff category X combined with price group Y. These list prices are put together in price folders. Each price folder is allocated to one price model, e.g. a linear one. The outcome of this is the prices of the bookings.
- MG3: linear prices (value) of the booked advertising space - this is the "real" value of the ad space, thus the price the ad space would cost if all spots were charged with their full prices.
- o NR %: balance - difference between MG3 and MG2
- MN1: media net (media gross - cash discount) - MG1 less cash rebates granted
- MN2: media net2 (MN1 - AE) - MN1 less agency discounts granted
- MN3: media net3 (MN2 - Skonto) - MN2 less discounts for cash granted
- Spots: number of spots - total of booked spots over the year
- V: seconds - total of booked seconds
- o V: average seconds - amount of seconds each spot lasts on average
- o SP: average price per second (MG3 / seconds) - value of the booked ad space divided by the total of seconds
- % MG1: media gross balance - percentaged allocation of media gross to the respective time slots of the months. At the end of the year it´s a total of 100% media gross allocated to the months and time slots. The sum of all months' MG1 must be 100% at the end of the year. Just as that the sum of the time slots' MG1 must also be 100% at the end of the year. Example1: MG1 allocated to 3 months (20% + 30% + 50%). Adding the 3 months up, the total will be 100%. Example2: within the time slots the MG1 is distributed as follows: 10% between 0-6 a.m., 25% between 6-12 a.m., 15% between 12-5 p.m. and 50% between 5 to 0 p.m. The total will also be 100%.
- % MG3: distribution according to ad space value - real value of the bookings in relation to the ad spaces' just value.
- % MN3: distribution according to MN3 (Cash-In) - net value of the bookings after having granted rebates and cash discounts. The distribution is calculated as follows: 100 divided by all months' total net values resp. time slots multiplied with total net value of the particular month resp. time slot. Example: total-MN3 = 26.470; MN3 of june = 1.201 ==> 100 / 26470 * 1201 = 4,54%
- Yield: profitability in % (MN3 / MG3 *100 = Cash-In / Wert *100) - media net after having granted rebates and cash discounts divided by the real price of the booked ad space.
- %o NR %: balance distribution - the percentage that the particular month resp. time slots contributes to the total balance
Spot Viewer
If you click on the booking values within the particular time slots (framed turquois on booking overview) the spot viewer is opened in a new window. It contains all relevant data of the material´s bookings in the selected time slot. The booked break for instance, date of broadcast, suborder and further information are displayed. At the bottom of the window the following values are displayed as total: number of spots, total length of spots, media gross, list price.
