How to handle Program and Break Changes?
Program and break changes can be handled through the re-import of a WhatsOn Channel with changes. The same steps will be applied as for the initial import.
The days are already exported in to WhatsOn.
You can find the import via the <Module Header> by clicking on the Breakbuilder symbol. In the functions menu on the left of the screen, you will find the WhatsOn import in the <WhatsOn> section. Click on the menu entry and the import workspace will be loaded.
Re-import a WhatsOn Channel and check changes
- Define the period to be imported.
- Select the Channel that needs to be imported.
- Click the 'Import' button to start the import.
- The result is shown. Important to note here is that there is no error message and that "done" is shown.
The result is visible in the Break Builder in all layers and in the booking systems. To do this, go to the Breakbuilder and select the appropriate station or period.
If the import was successful, the day imported shows the Program and the start time of the Program (from the EPG). The view is configurable to enable more information.
- The start time of the Program needs to be the same like in WhatsOn.
- Double-clicking the Program opens a pop-up where the breaks linked to this Program are displayed.
Which changes should be checked?
- Change of Program
- Change of start times
- Add breaks
- Remove breaks
- Change break durations
Resolve break issues after re-import
After the original break scheme has been overwritten, the differences between the new and the old structure must be corrected so that the spots can be processed further. To do this, we switch to the Grid Optimizer.
You can find out how the Grid Optimizer works in detail here.
First select the corresponding days on the correct channel in the Grid Optimizer. You can recognize breaks that are invalid due to the import, by the red marking.
Re-booking of invalid/Unplaced Spots
There are two ways to re-book invalid / unplaced spots into a valid break.
Re-booking from the clipboard
If you click on an invalid break you will find all the spots (shown in light gray) on the clipboard. You can then book these spots individually for valid breaks.
This option is useful if a break is omitted without a replacement and you have to distribute the spots to several other spots.
Bulk re-booking of a complete break
But you can also re-book a complete break including all spots and their positions in the break in one go. To do this, simply drag and drop an invalid break over an empty, valid break. All spots are then carried over to the new break.
This option makes sense if an empty replacement break is offered in which the spots can be transmitted as a whole.
After you have completely cleaned up all invalid breaks, you should click the reload button to remove the now empty and invalid breaks from the grid
