Create a Campaign

The campaign is, so to speak, a folder that includes all placements in a year. As a rule, a campaign is set up for a whole year at RTL Netherlands.

A created campaign is a prerequisite for receiving placements from the portals.

Campaign

Requirements to create a Campaign

Before a campaign can be created, we need two necessary data sets:

1. We need an Order (You will find "How to create an order" here)

2. We need a Deal

Create a Campaign from an Order

The best and easiest way to create a campaign is to do it from an existing order. Use the special action button <Create a 360 Campaign> here

To do this, look for the corresponding order in the order master data and open it with a double click

At the bottom right of the screen you will find the Action Button button <CREATE 360 Campaign>. Click on the button and a pop-up window will open.

Now you can enter all relevant data for the campaign:

  1. Campaign name
  2. Period of the campaign (usually from 1.1. - 31.12.)
  3. You can add a comment
  4. Budget is an option. If no budget should be entered, enter 0
  5. You can optionally choose a product
  6. Delete all suborders by clicking on the small x on the left side of each suborder
  7. When you are done with the input, click on the button <Create> on the right edge below the input fields.

Defined by workflow all suborders must be deleted because otherwise the system creates placements an bundles by default.

After you have clicked the <Create> button, a confirmation of the action appears. Clicking on the link takes you directly to the master data set for the campaign

However, you will also find the campaign if you go through the campaign master data.

Campaign MasterData in Detail

A double click on the data record opens the details again. Here you can add further information. The previous entry is sufficient for further processing.

Here is a short overview over the Tab-structure:

  1. In the General tab you will find all mandatory fields
  2. Under Client, you can find all customer and order information
  3. Settings, offers you further setting options
  4. You can find the associated bundles in the Bundle tab
  5. In the Placements tab, you will find a list of all placements that belong to the campaign.
  6. And finally, in the History, you can see who made a change to the data and at what time

Entries defined by workflow

7. Every Campaign has to have a product

8. The Campaign Status has to be set on "Campaign"

9. The Campaign Type has to be set to "TV Linear"

Useful Special Actions

At the bottom you will find a lot of action buttons that we won't go into in detail here. However, there are some of these special actions that you should pay attention to:

  1. You can create a bundle directly from the campaign
  2. You can access the screening confirmation report via the campaign
  3. You can also create a copy rotation for the entire campaign
  4. And. you can apply this copy rotation to the entire campaign
  5. Finally, you have the opportunity to access the READ VIEW campaigns. We explain exactly what this READ VIEW does here.

Bundle

The bundle groups several placements and a bundle is the connection between Campaign and Placement.

How to create a Bundle

The best thing to do is to create a bundle directly from the campaign that is to be assigned to the bundle

To do this, select the campaign and click on the <Create Bundle> button. MYDAS will show you immediately after your click that the task has been completed successfully. If you cannot find the new bundle in the bundle list, you should click the <Reload> Button.

Bundle Data

The bundle has only a few features that we will go into:

  1. Media Combi ID - The Media Combi valid for the bundle is selected here
  2. The selling option valid for the bundle can then be selected based on the Media Combi
  3. The target group

All three characteristics are passed on to the next level, the placement. This means that all placements that are assigned to this bundle are automatically given these features. However, you can override these settings in the placement by overwriting the values there with other values.

Placement

The placement is, so to speak, the processor for booking your campaign. The placement contains all information with which MYDAS books and controls the campaign. After creating a placement, you can either manually fill this placement with spot bookings or book it automatically. A placement can be continuously improved using the optimizer.

To create a placement you need the following requirements:

  1. An order must be present
  2. A campaign must be assigned to the order
  3. A bundle must be assigned to the campaign

If you take this chain into account, creating a placement is very easy.

The best way to create a placement is through a campaign or bundle. In the following we will show you how to create a placement using a bundle. (= best use case)

To do this, simply click on the Special Action button (1) <Create Placement>. MYDAS creates a placement in the background and adds it to the placement list in the (2) [Placements] tab.

By double-clicking on the new placement, you can also go directly to the corresponding placement view.

MasterData Overview

The placement master data is very extensive. So let's take a quick look at the tab structure:

  1. In the general tab, you will find all mandatory fields for your placement
  2. Under Pricing, we will add some additional price information such as Surcharges
  3. In the area of targets it is about the control of the placement, which is important if the campaign is booked automatically,
  4. You only need the Interfaces tab if it is an online campaign
  5. In the Invoice tab, data is mainly displayed, but there are also two selection fields
  6. Billing provides you with a table with all billing information
  7. Distribution shows you in a table how the spots are distributed
  8. The history table shows you the changes to the data set
  9. Under Issues, you will find a list of problems that arise in the campaign. e.g. creative issues

General Tab

In this area you will find the most important fields that you have to consider when creating your placement. Let's go over these fields, line by line

1. Status

The status controls the options for actions you can take with the placement. With the Status Creation, for example, you cannot book but only simulate the booking. You will be able to book a placement in the Status Campaign.

STATUS on RTL NETHERLANDS:

If we create this manually, it will automatically be set to Campaign/ Auto

If you miss an action, it is usually not a system error. Often it is due to the status and the associated rights.

The Media Type is currently set to Default Linear.

2. Selling Option

Selling option and target group are inherited from the bundle. You can override the values for a placement.

SELLING OPTION on RTL NETHERLANDS:

No need to fill in. In the background it is already linked to the bundle

3. Target Unit

You have the option of setting your goal to Spots / Budget or GRP. In the drop down field you set the target type in the target field you define the target value.

TARGET UNIT on RTL NETHERLANDS:

Automatically set to GRP

4. Pricing

In the Pricing drop-down field, you specify the price type. In the Price field you define the price value.

PRICING on RTL NETHERLANDS

Here we fill in Cost Per GRP

5. Product

PRODUCT on RTL NETHERLANDS:

No need to fill in. In the background it is already linked properly with the Campaign

6. Order Type

The order type is important to control the billing of the spots. The order types are defined centrally in MYDAS and can be selected from the drop down.

ORDERTYPE on RTL NETHERLANDS

Here we fill in the correct order type. In case of a paid campaign it is set to Paid. In case of a bonus/ GM/ OD placement, we need to change this (these are the special cases that I will include in the work instructions)

7. From - UNTIL

Simply enter the duration of your placement here. Ideally this is maximum of a month.

8. Position

In the Position drop-down field, you can specify the position of the spots within the advertising block. For example, if you select First, only those breaks that have free first positions to choose from, will be taken into account when booking. The position can therefore extremely limit the availability of the inventory.

You can enter your customer's number in the PO Number field

9. Comments

Here you can change the bundle if you want to assign a different bundle to the placement.

You can also enter comments on placements here.

10. Sub-order

The suborder should be added to the campaign by clicking on the magnifying glass. Without a suborder the campaign will not be visible in the booking cockpit/ for the optimizer

For a linear placement you have to assign a sub-contract to which the spots can be booked.

11. Media Type

Set by default to Linear

12. Target Group

Is already filled in. Is linked to the bundle

13. Target + Price

These columns are automatically populated when the spot length and budget are filled in.

14. Format Duration

The spotlength

You can select the product from the product drop down. You can also create a new product using the plus button. In this case, the product is automatically assigned to the customer who is assigned to the campaign.

It is important to store a length for the spot.

Attention, you can save the placement without a length. But when simulating a booking or actual booking, you will see an error message.

15. Placement Budget

The budget of the placement

16. PO-Number

Here the PO number of the customer can be filled in.

17. Bundle

You can see the bundle that is linked to the placement. Here you can change the bundle if you want to assign a different bundle to the placement

Then click on save to save the placement.

Once the campaign has been created, we always check whether it appears in the Booking Cockpit.

Pricing Tab

In the pricing tab you can store additional price information. The surcharges are important here.

You can save the surcharge as a price or as a % value. If you want to save a % value, then activate the corresponding checkbox.

Targets Tab

In the target tab, you can give detailed instructions on how to distribute spot bookings. You can also define optimization strategies here.

Interface Tab

In the Interface tab you can select the interfaces for online placements. You can ignore this tab for TV.

Invoice Tab

In the Invoice tab, you control the billing of the placement. You can also find some budget figures here.

Special Actions

Some of the most important special actions are explained in this section.

Create Distribution

With this button, MYDAS determines the distribution of the spots. You can then check the result of the action in the Distribution tab.

Define Units per Day

You can also manually specify the distribution. To do this, click on the Define Units per Day button. A pop-up window opens in which you can specify the number of bookings for each individual day.

Copy Rotation

The function copy rotation is explained in detail in another chapter, because it can be used in both placement and campaign.

Simulate / Book

Depending on the status, you can simulate the campaign with this action button or have it booked automatically. However, you can also simply save the placement at this point and switch to the Booking Cockpit to make the spot bookings manually.
